Welcome to the 1st Air Expeditionary Wing, home of the Virtual Vultures and Virtual Red Tails! We are a group of virtual pilots that leverage Digital Combat Simulator to simulate the experience of being part of a front line joint A-10C Thunderbolt II, F-16C Fighting Falcon, and F/A-18C Hornet Expeditionary Wing.
We were created with the purpose of having fun and learning to fly the world's most deadly attack aircraft, the Mighty Hawg! We have since expanded to the highly lethal F-16C Viper and F/A-18C Hornet.

We are pleased to announce that effective immediately, EMPTI will take over as acting Commanding Officer of the 511th vFS. EMPTI brings his vast real world experience and teaching abilities to the Squadron. Please welcome our new CO!

With the upcoming release of the Heatblur F-4E Phantom II, we are excited to announce that the Wing will activate the 380th vTactical Fighter Squadron! The 380th will be a reserve Squadron and open to all of our active pilots. The 380th will fly missions set in the late 1970's and into the 1980's with weapons and objectives of that timeframe. We can't wait to get our hands on the Lead Sled!

All of us here at the 1st AEW would like to take a moment on this Memorial Day to honor our armed forces members who gave their lives in defense of this great country. It is because of their sacrifice that we are able to enjoy our hobby of flight simulation.
1st AEW SQUADRON LIST
Formed in 2020 as the original squadron of the unit, the 511th Virtual Squadron "Vultures" is the premier A-10CII Close Air Support Squadron in DCS.
The 511th Virtual Fighter Squadron's vision is to balance the most authentic A-10CII experience with the real realities of life and time. Our squadron combines thousands of hours of in-sim experience with realistic U.S. Air Force tactics, techniques, and procedures without all the "out of game" formalities. Additionally, the squadron partners with military veteran Subject Matter Experts to bolster our capabilities.
The most recent addition to the 1st AEW, VMFA 232 is the first carrier capable squadron in the unit. VMFA 232 represents the United States Marine Corps flying the F/A-18C.
Formed in 2022 as the 1st AEW's second squadron, the "Red Tails" bring a much faster paced environment to the wing.
The 100th FS focuses on all of the prolific F-16C Viper's roles including OCA, DCA, SEAD, and many other mission types that make the jet so versatile.
